Mali - Bamako Cathedral

Located at the Commercial Center, in Commune III of the District of Bamako, in the heart of the city, the Bamako Cathedral, as a place of worship for the Catholic community, was erected in favor of the Decree of August 1, 1921 of Rome creating the Vicariate Apostolic of Bamako, thanks to the insistence of the governors of French Sudan. Monsignor Sauvant laid the first blessed stone of the building on February 21, 1925. The construction of the Cathedral was completed in 1936. The Cathedral is forty-eight (48) meters long and twelve (12) meters wide. It is built of stone in Byzantine Romanesque style.
