Katmai National Monument was created in 1918 to preserve the famed Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, a spectacular forty square mile, 100 to 700 foot deep ash flow deposited by Novarupta Volcano. A National Park & Preserve since 1980, today Katmai is still famous for volcanoes, but also for brown bears, pristine waterways with abundant fish, remote wilderness, and a rugged coastline. Kodiak Brown Bear is a subspecies smaller than their larger mainland cousin Brown Bears found in Katmai National Park due to large supply of salmon.

USA - Alaska - Juneau State Capitol

Alaska State Capitol is the Junea State House. Built in art deco architecture style, it was completed in 1931. Several plans to move to change the state capital or to redesign the State Capitol did not succeed. Again thanks so much to Lori for sending me this and many other state capitol postcards to help complete my collection.
