In 2011, there was 27 adminstrative regions of which 22 in Metropolitan France and 5 are overseas - namely Guadelope, Martinique, French Guiana, Reunion and Mayotte. There were 101 Departments.
In 2020, there are now 18 administrative regions - 13 on Mainland and 5 overseas regions.
